Dear friends,
Now that the semester nearly over, we know you are thinking ahead to conference opportunities for the summer. We are pleased to announce that the 24rd Annual Conference of the Association for the Teaching of English Grammar (ATEG) will be held at Prince George's Community College again this year on July19-20, 2013. The location will be Conference Room 2, Largo Student Center, Largo Maryland, near Washington D.C.
The ATEG website (www.ATEG.org) has proposal submission guidelines, conference hotel info, and online registration. The conference theme is “Teachable Moments”, and Amy Benjamin, will give the keynote address, “Grammar and the Common Core.”
Amy gives the following introduction to her talk: “The Common Core Learning Standards clearly include competence in grammar in at least four of the thirty-two standards. Are K-12 teachers ready? Well, you can't teach what you don't know. Teachers at the college level whose students are preparing to become K-12 teachers also need to know what is expected.”
Please let us know of your interest in attending and also any questions you may have.
You may ask general questions through the list and specific questions to our email.
