Hi Folks,

Some of you may have heard or read about controversies surrounding the new comedy film called Tropical Thunder. Apparently the film dialogue uses the term "retard" or "retarded" repeatedly, raising concerns about public perceptions and stereotypes. Dr. McMahon-Klosterman and Dr. Wasburn-Moses attended the opening of the film at the Princess here in Oxford in an effort to help educate people about derogatory and condescending language. Bravo!
Attached are the materials they had available to share with the public. You may find them useful as you attempt to discuss these concerns with your friends, families and peers.
