There is now available a reprint of the shortened English edition (ed.
Silvanus Phillips Thompson) of the standard work by Newton Peirce, The
History of the Independent Order of Good Templars: complete up to the year
1868 (1973; reprinted Kila, MT: Kessinger Pub., 2003; ISBN 0766157636). I
think that Peirce's original work may be available on microfilm.
