[log in to unmask][log in to unmask], 1 Aug 2010 08:09:27 -0400639_iso-8859-1 Yesterday we went and viewed the previously described, beautiful plumaged, male Rufous Hummingbird at the home of Chris Troyer, from 2:30PM to 3:30PM. This guy's orange color is gorgeous. The bird has been present now for a week. It frequents the right hummingbird feeder, or is perched in the maple tree to the right of the house. Twice during our visit, it went across the road and disappeared for a short while but returned each time. It is definitely the dominant bird, always chasing the numerous Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. It has indeed been a strange and interesting summer following an equally
strange spring migration. With fall migration already here with some bird
groups and in the offing for landbirds spend some time afield to see what
surprises abound. The more we learn the more we understand how little we
really do know.
