We checked the beach at Buck Creek State Park this morning and saw a couple
birds. We immediately saw a Merlin sitting in a dead tree near the north end
of the beach. Farther down we saw an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull sitting
with the flock of gulls. Unfortunately the bird flew as we walked closer
even though the Ring-billed Gulls didn't budge. I'm sure the Merlin also
left the area as they don't usually stay around here.
We also have had quite a few warblers migrating through the park the last
few days. We haven't seen anything unusual but it has been great searching
through the flocks.
