Yesterday [1/12], in the midst of a blinding blizzard here in south central
Huron County, 35 +/- Robins descended into the outermost branches of an
Arnold crabapple for a monumental frozen fruit scavenging episode. This was
a late afternoon skirmish amongst the ancient branches of this tree [which
serves as the main attraction of our bird feeding area]. Additionally,
these fruit scavengers descended from the branches to pick up fruit which
had fallen on the ground from previous raids on this remarkable tree.
Early this Saturday morning, a smaller Robin cleanup crew stopped by to
finish the custodial task.
Nothing fancy.....but welcome and interesting.
