Howdy all -
This morning, I stopped at a loaction I discovered
while atlasing last summer. It is a wetland property
owned by Lorain County Metroparks, and is similar to
the Sandy Ridge/Columbia Resv. projects, though not
nearly as extensive. It is located off Crook RD mear
Grafton.
Seven shorebird species were an unexpected plus,
including tight-knit flocks of Dunlin and Semipalmated
Plovers, containing seven birds each. The habitat is
not extensive but obviously ample for migrant
shirebirds. Other birds of interest in the area
included - Great Egret, Sora, Bank Swallow (5), Great
Horned Owl, Orchard Oriole, Black-throated Blue and
Canada Warblers.
Good birding -
