For those closer to Columbus needing a Rough-legged Hawk, I saw two at
Battelle Darby this morning in the Kuhlwein wetlands. One dark phase and
one light phase. Both were in the vicinity of Kuhlwein Road. 9 Harriers in
view at one time. A SEOW even got up for a bit in the early morning sun.
Also, the fields in Northern Madison County and Southern Union County are
absolutely teeming with Lapland Longspurs, they outnumbered horned larks
everywhere I saw mixed groups. The ice storm appears to have pushed them
right to the road edges. Interestingly, not one Snow Bunting anywhere!
Anyone else noticing a lack of snow buntings in central Ohio?

Subject: [Ohio-birds] Rough-legged Hawk @ Big Island Wilderness Area
On 95 between viewing platform and Espyville Rd. a Rough-legged Hawk was
perched up high in a tree. Took off towards the north, and showed off it's
bracelets. Landed in area on north side of 95 before the bike trail.
Happy Birding and God bless
Steve J
