This AM I got a call from Beth Mitchell who drove by Melvin Gravel pit and noticed some white geese, I was scheduled to accompany Bob Powell's Wilmington College
Ornithology class and we decided to make Melvin our first stop. We hit the jackpot with:
18 White Snow Geese
15 Blue morph Snow Geese
6 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE
30 Ring-necked Ducks
2 Mallards
50 Canada Geese
Most of the Snow Geese and the White-fronted took off while we were watching but 1 of each morph stayed with the Canadas
At Caesar Creek there was very little
2 Ring-billed Gulls - in water beyond the flooded beach
2 Ring-billed Ducks " " " " " "
2 Downy Woodpeckers - at Visitor's Center
2 Titmouse
3 Blue Jays
6 Goldfinch
2 Lesser Scaup at the North Pool
Very Happy Birder Cheers, Larry Gara
