I stopped by Hoover this afternoon and witnessed what others have reported--several Bonaparte gulls circling and waiting to see what a loon would bring up from dives. This was a quarter mile north of the dam. Then, I pulled in at the parking lot just north of Smothers Rd. and there was a juvenile tundra swan looking quite forlorn about a hundred yards north of the bridge.
At the Oxbow area, I saw a horned grebe, raft of ruddy ducks, and hooded mergansers and I think Buffleheads in the distance.
Later over my house, two Cooper hawks circled.
