A group of three of us and 1 dog went hiking Saturday morning along the
Olentangy River down to the Wetlands and back.
Not much of interest except watching 2 crows, each briefly chasing a male
Belted Kingfisher along the edge of the river.. One of the kingfishers had a
minnow in its mouth and finally alit on a branch extending over the river.
Belted Kingfisher- 2
American Crow- 2
White-thoated Sparrow -3
Red-tailed Hawk- 1
Downy Woodpecker - 1
American Robins- 3
Northern Cardinal- 3
Mallards and Canadian Geese - many
There was also a flyover of a gaggle of about 30 Canadian Geese in a loose
formation at about 1,000 feet in altitude on a NNW heading.
