Greetings-

To see the Red Phalarope at Headlands, birders must CAREFULLY walk the entire length of the break wall out to the lighthouse, then walk AROUND the lighthouse to the left on flat rock pilings in order to view the phalarope, which is beyond the lighthouse (northeast side of it, along the break wall). Once you walk around the lighthouse, head to the right (east side of lighthouse) the bird will be below you at FIVE FEET AWAY. This is a safety issue. The break wall is accessible (fisherman walk it regularly) but there are some large gaps and unflat surfaces along the way.
