This morning I was out looking for crossbills at the Tall Pines area of Walnut Woods Metro Park and ran across a Merlin perched atop one of the conifers on the east side. A few days ago I also glimpsed what looked like a Merlin near the center of Tall Pines, so it may be hanging around. No crossbills, but Red-Breasted Nuthatches continue numerous.
