Hello fellow birders,
This is my first posting with a picture ( I am leaving my dinosaur domain ! ). I took this picture in the spring at Wright Marsh while I was looking for a one day wonder female Ruff ( Ibis were present at that day ). Could not get a better picture ( mainly a front view ) because bird kept walking away from me while I was trying to get pictures.
After looking thru guides and viewing other pictures I am calling this a white - rumped sandpiper. The wings project past the tail which I consider a primary field mark. Coloration is correct. Heavy eye ring and yellow legs are problematic to me. I will label legs as a secondary field mark as wrong color legs does happen on birds. Is white - rumped correct ? I am interested with any feedback. May the birds be with you, Henry.
