I birded along the Olentangy River corridor this morning, starting at
Antrim Lake, then moving up through Highbanks Scenic River Trail & River
Bluff areas, and the Worthington Hills bike path. Migrants were not quite
as numerous as along the Alum Creek & Hoover Reservoir shores from
yesterday, but there were more temperate migrants now that the weather is
cooling. Notables included:
Raptors - not much until I got to River Bluff, where the high viewpoint
there gave me TV, Red-shouldered, Red-tailed, and one high Osprey flying
south
Woodpeckers - no sapsucker or Red-headed, but did have quite a few Flickers
Flycatcher - only 1 E.Phoebe, at River Bluff
Wrens - still a few House Wrens (at Scenic River Trail & River Bluff), but
also had 4 different Winter Wrens, at all the locations
Kinglets - still only Ruby-crowns, but had 1-2 at all the locations
Thrushes - small flocks of E.Bluebirds in meadows at many places; also had
a Swainson's Thrush at Antrim Lake
Cedar Waxwings - small flocks at most locations
Warblers - Yellow-rumps at many locations, though not in big numbers.
Also had a Palm at River Bluff
Sparrows - flocks of White-throateds were widespread; also had groups of
Field Sparrows at River Trail & River Bluff
Cardinalids - a juvenile male Rose-br.Grosbeak was still following mom
along the Worthington Hills bikeway
Blackbirds - a few Redwings & Grackles, but no big flocks here
Finches - nothing unusual
