For those looking to burn fossil fuels to see new birds, the reports this
week are promising, including:
Scoters - reports of all 3 species from many locations, mostly north of
I-70. Check any large reservoirs
Long-tailed Duck - 1 consistently off Alum Creek State Park beach today
(Oct 27)
White-winged Dove - still apparently hanging around Lakeview Estates in
western Ohio (Darke Co.) thru 10-26
Rufous Hummingbird - still patronizing the Getha feeder NW of Delaware, as
of 10-27
Stilt Sandpiper - still seen at the Battelle Darby wetlands (Teal Trail) as
recently as Oct 26
Avocet & Sanderling - at beach of Dillon Lake State Park today Oct 27
Franklin's Gull - multiple spots, but Dillon Lake beach most recent (Oct 27)
N.Saw-Whet Owl - has taken up typical residence at Cleveland Lakefront
Preserve
Pine Siskins - multiple reports from different sites in N.Ohio, so watch
for them around feeders or conifer groves
Clay-colored Sparrows - several reports at multiple locations during past
week, but only 1 recent (Meadowbrook Marsh, near Sandusky, Oct 27)
Harris Sparrow - multiple viewings at Edgewater Park in Cleveland today
(Oct 27)
Nelson's Sparrows - multiple sites in northern Ohio, mostly around Holmes &
Wayne Counties. Really, could be in any wetland with appropriate short
sedge edge.
