I am sad to report the passing of longtime Ottawa NWR census leader
Edwin C. Pierce. Ed passed away on July 31st. after a combination of
ailments brought on by Parkinson's disease. It may have robbed him of some
of his faculties but not of his sense of humor and incredible passion for
birdwatching and the natural world. Many owe a debt of gratitude to Ed for
his contributions to the Ohio birding community, and beyond.
