At Funk Bottoms this noon from the Tower there were reduced numbers of
ducks from mid-week. Largest numbers were of pintails and mallards, a few
wigeon, canvasback, ring-necked ducks. There could have been others--cold,
wind and distance reduced the time we spent scoping the flocks! Swan
numbers seem about what there have been there for a few weeks.
More swans, mallards, pintails and a few wigeon and green-winged teal were
seen from Wilderness Road (the next road south of Hwy. 95), but we were
excited to find a Peregrine Falcon on a snag north of Wilderness Road on
the west end. We hadn't found one there before. A scope was necessary.
