I thought I'd check the day's postings before I sent
out mine. Glad I did. Seems Charlie beat me to the
punch on all the new finds I made today (except two!).
Anyway, here's my list, mostly from Oxbow and Mudhen
Marsh:
(An "*" denotes first spring sighting for me)
*Double-crested Cormorant (75+)
Turkey Vulture
Canada Goose
Mallard
Red-tailed Hawk
American Coot (10+)
*Killdeer (1 at Oxbow)
Ring-billed Gull
Mourning Dove
Belted Kingfisher
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
*Red-headed Woodpecker (not in normal trees; between
small dam and road at Mudhen Marsh)
Eastern Phoebe
*White-eyed Vireo (singing at Mudhen Marsh; took
quite a while to spot it)
Blue Jay
American Crow
Tree Swallow
Carolina Chickadee
White-breasted Nuthatch
Winter Wren (1 at Mudhen)
American Robin
Brown Thrasher
European Starling
*Prothonotary Warbler (quite friendly/close just
as one enters the woods at tip of Oxbow)
Chipping Sparrow
Song Sparrow
Northern Cardinal
Brown-headed Cowbird
American Goldfinch
House Sparrow
(Heard but not seen: Eastern Towhee and Field Sparrow)
