We immediately saw a Merlin sitting in a dead tree near the north end of the beach. Farther down we saw an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull sitting with the flock of gulls. Unfortunately the bird flew as we walked closer even though the Ring-billed Gulls didn't budge. I'm sure the Merlin also left the area as they don't usually stay around here.
