Blendon Woods Metro Park is located in the northeast corner of Columbus off
of Rte 161 & I 270. Take the Little Turtle Way exit. Below is a list of
some of the birds seen this weekend
Black-throated Blue Warbler (confirmed by Photo)
Friday-Lake Trail-4 females
Saturday-East Blind at Thoreau Lake-male
Sunday-heard male singing on the Overlook Trail
Wild Turkeys-The males are Displaying everywhere. The best place to see
them is at the Nature Center Bird Viewing area, Ranger Station Bird
Feeders, & at the East Blind at Thoreau Lake. Also there are Bird Feeders
in the Picnic grounds where the Turkeys can be seen.
Interesting Behavior- There is an American Coot & American Widgeon(male)
hanging out together. When the A Coot dove & brought up food, the A Widgeon
took some food from the A Coot's mouth. Three more times the A Coot dove,
brought up food & dropped food. The A Widgeon then picked up the food
Red-shouldered Hawks- A pair was seen for over an hour around Hickory
Ridge & Ripple Rock Trail. They were vocalizing a lot. The male(I assume)
would spread out its wings and almost stop in midair. You could really see
the "Windows". It would then pull in its wings and dive
