I was fortunate to get another look at the thrush I saw on Sunday and
reported as a Swainson's. Thanks to a couple fellow Columbus birders, I was
advised that a Swainson's would be a real find this early and that it was
likely to be a hermit. So, today I saw it again very close and as long as I
chose and could see the rust tail (which I did not see on Sunday). It
definitely is a hermit. Saw eye ring as well. The only thing about this
bird is that the spots do not seem quite as prominent as shown in Sibley's
guide. But still, I am sure we have a hermit. It is hanging around at the
shrubs at the riverbank close to the group of 5 very tall trees.
