With duck hunting season at intermission, there was a good diversity of
waterfowl present here yesterday. Highlights:
Snow Goose - 33 (18 white phase & 15 blues with 3 immatures of each)
Gadwall - 4
N. Shoveler - 5-10
Scaup (prob. Lesser - heads tucked in) - at least 2
LONG-TAILED DUCK - 1 (female)
Bufflehead - 2 (both female)
Hooded Merganser - 100 +/-
Red-br. Merganser - 4 or more
Ruddy Duck - 50 +
Pied-billed Grebe - 5-10
Black Vulture - 3
Bonaparte's & Ring-billed Gulls - several hundred each
Herring Gull - a handful
probably others I missed!
