We have at least one golden eagle currently visiting the Wilds. Today, I saw a juvenile golden eagle from International Road soaring over the hill by the visitor center. We also saw a golden eagle on our Christmas bird count last Saturday that looked to be an older individual, so we may have two eagles on property. We also finally are starting to see a variety of duck species on our lakes, including American black duck and green-winged teal, along with the more numerous ring-necked ducks, mallards, trumpeter swans, and Canada geese. There were also several harriers flying around, and even saw a short-eared owl patrolling pasture around 3 pm in the afternoon.
