Two ladies, my wife Denise and I know, are doing Big Years. Irene Krise of northeast Ohio is doing a Big Year for Ohio, and Shannon Thompson of western Pennsylvania is doing a Big Year for Pennsylvania. They are both on a pace to exceed 300 species. Ironically this past Saturday, both girls recorded species #292 in their pursuit. How wild is it, that they both achieved #292 on the same day! These two have a lot in common. Irene's #292 was a Leconte's Sparrow at Wake Robin Trail in Lake County. The previous day she recorded #291, a Nelson's Sparrow at the same location. Shannon's #292 was a Nelson's Sparrow at one of her western Pennsylvania hotspots. Go Girls!!!
